Cyber4schools.net has been developed by a former Head of Faculty; Advanced Skills Teacher and respected security specialist and offers a wide range of free materials. From highly engaging assembly presentations; to editable lesson plans dealing with cyber threats, ethics and careers. There are also programming challenges featured within the resources to tap into the determination and knowledge of children who have a natural interest in the digital world.
Not only does the website allow schools to embed a culture of cyber safety, parents are equally encouraged to use the website to gain a better understanding of how young people become engaged with cybercrime and what positive steps can be taken to avoid this. Indeed, the ‘Cyber Ambassador’ scheme – winner of an International Digital Investigation & Intelligence Award – encourages students to take an active part in designing, delivering and reviewing a number of digital initiatives in return for cyber mentoring and bespoke references from each police force.
Members of the Cyber team at EMSOU are also happy to visit schools in the East Midlands to help with the delivery of such materials. They can also offer free security audits of network infrastructures and staff training.
