The St Clare’s Special Educational Needs Offer
St Clare’s is a Community Special School for children with moderate learning difficulties and associated needs including moderate ADHD, Autism, HI, Language and communicating, VI and Physical impairment. Pupils will need to have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan to enable them to access this school.
Located in Mickleover but serving children from accross the City of Derby and southern Derbyshire. We have a very attractive building with specialist rooms for Science, Art, ICT, Design Technology and Food Technology. We have extensive playing fields for Sport, 2 MUGA’s and horticultural areas with 2 Polytunnels.
Transition arrangements with feeder schools are in place to ensure a smooth move between schools for all pupils. Transition to Post 16 provision is also effectively developed to support student success.
We accommodate over 100 students with learning difficulties and other complex needs. We span an academic ability range from P6 to GCSE Grade D. Our students have moderate to severe learning difficulties and other associated needs. Many of our students have moderate autistic needs. Some of our students have visual and hearing impairments. Some of our students have mobility issues and/or medical needs. Some of our students have additional social and emotional needs.
In response to our students needs, we offer a full and diverse curriculum with specialist support. The progress that our students make is judged as outstanding as a result of the teaching and support available to them and the progress that they make academicly, socially and emotionally.
